St. Mary’s Glacier – my favorite hike in Colorado!

If you live in Colorado and you haven’t done this 3/4 mile hike up to St. Mary’s Glacier, you are seriously missing out.  St. Mary’s Glacier is located in Idaho Springs, about 9 miles off of I-70 & the Fall River Road exit.  The hike is 3/4 mile one-way and is perfect for the nature lover and even more perfect for dogs.  The hike up is mostly on small rocks (so some dogs might be a bit slow) but once you arrive you will find a gorgeous lake, wildflowers and a glacier… with year round snow 🙂

I’ve probably hiked this 5+ times but we decided to take a quick drive up to the glacier last week to escape the 97 degree Denver day.  We took Andrew’s 5 month old yellow lab puppy Sawyer.  It was his first hike and first time playing in snow — he loved it!
