Georgia…. and the changing times

Times, they are a changin’! You know whats not changing? This terrible Kentucky weather. We were out of town this past weekend and guess what happened? The emergency weather sirens were blaring and our neighbors were freaking out again– terrified of the unknown and posting on the Facebook group for our neighborhood about how scared they were. Another severe storm which would have sent Ben, Emery, the dogs and I into the crawl space. (Do you see a theme here?) (Yep, Bad weather so often!) Please pray for us to safely make it to summer. We have to get through spring first, which is when the severe storms are more likely. I had no idea we were moving to tornado central. In the past, Kentucky wasn’t part of tornado alley. Well, it is now.

Thankful to God, we were out of town in Georgia for a few days this past week. To celebrate my securing a job as a temporary nurse for nearly 3x the pay I was making as a staff nurse, we decided to find a beach house on Tybee Island, Georgia. Yep, I’m going back to work! I am excited to make our family some money but I am pretty heartbroken to have to leave Emery. I love being a stay at home mom and I have a thriving daughter because of being able to be a stay at home mom and because I can keep her on a good routine and literally devote all of my time to her. That’s what I do now, and I really love it. I know it’s going to be very hard on her and me to have me out of the house and/or sleeping so much (I’m going to be working the night shift, full time). It makes me sad, but it is what needs to be done at this time. I will start the first week of March and the 12 week contract will end in June. And then, we will shortly there after move back to Colorado. Yes, we are moving back home. I can’t wait. Ben has accepted a position in Colorado at a law firm on the Western Slope, about 3 hours from Denver/Boulder where we were prior. I am so very proud of him. He has worked SO hard to secure this opportunity. We can’t wait to live our dreams out in Colorado and raise Emery and any other babies we have in the mountains & near our favorite — nature. Just a few more months!

Anyway, another new state for me! The trip itself didn’t go as planned (Emery had a horrible allergic reaction to something in the house & we left a day early) BUT — we had a really nice time overall!!! I really like the South. Whether it’s North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia, they have all really impressed me and I am so glad we have been able to take trips during this time spent here. I’ve really enjoyed exploring more and seeing places it would otherwise be difficult to see.
